MEMORIES UNTUNNELED
By Patricia Spork

Rugged be the men and women
Who honor the American flag
Defying enemies in bloody combat.

WAR IS HELL!

Ever-present casualties
Shock the senses, stirring maniacal . . .
Yet, calculated decisions.

WAR IS HELL!

Howling attacks falter troops,
But objectives remain the same
And counterattacks hasten victories.

WAR IS HELL!

There is NO conditional surrender
For brothers or sisters
Advancing in dogged determination.

WAR IS HELL!

Each battle, savage; Each defeat, bitter;
Each life, precious; Each death, heartbreak;
Each experience, personal; Each memory, tunneled.

WAR IS HELL!

Memories untunneled . . .

HELL REVISITED!

HELL REVISITED!

HELL REVISITED!
